PawForecastis a free, informational tool that estimates how hot the pavement is likely to be under a dog's paws. By using the site you accept the terms below. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.
Informational only — no warranty
The pavement temperatures, SAFE / CAUTION / DANGER verdicts, safe walking windows, and climate figures on PawForecast are estimates and guidance, not measurements. They are produced by a model from forecast data and cannot see your street, its surface, its shade, or your individual dog. They are not a substitute for your own judgment as your dog's owner, and they are not veterinary advice. Always confirm with the seven-second hand test on the actual pavement, and consult your veterinarian about your dog's tolerance for heat. The site is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, and to the fullest extent permitted by law we are not liable for any harm, injury, or loss arising from decisions made using it. You use PawForecast at your own discretion and risk.
Data sources & attribution
Weather forecasts are provided by Open-Meteo. City and postal-code coordinates come from GeoNames(CC BY 4.0). We're grateful to both. These providers have their own terms and make no warranty to you through us; forecast data can be delayed, incomplete, or occasionally unavailable, in which case a page may show a stale or missing reading. Affiliate disclosure
Some links on PawForecast — including links to hot-weather walking gear — are affiliate links, and PawForecast is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy through one of these links, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. We only link to products we believe are genuinely useful for keeping dogs safe in the heat, and a purchase is never required to use anything on this site. See our privacy & disclosure page for more.
Acceptable use
You may use PawForecastfor your own personal, non-commercial dog-walking decisions, and you may link to it freely. Please don't scrape the site at scale, resell or redistribute its data as your own, attempt to disrupt or overload it, or use it in any unlawful way. The site's name, design, and original text are ours; the underlying weather and geographic data belong to the providers named above under their respective licenses. We may update these terms or the tool itself at any time.
Paid alerts — subscription, billing and cancellation
The pavement checker on this site is free. Daily email alerts are a paid subscription at $2.99 per month or $26.91 per year. There is no free trial: your card is charged when you subscribe.
These subscriptions renew automatically — monthly plans on the same day each month, annual plans on the same date each year — at the price shown above, until you cancel. We will email you before any price change, and a price change never applies to a term you have already paid for.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive, see, or store your card details. You can update your card, download invoices, or cancel at any time from the billing portal linked in the footer of every alert we send — no account or password is required, and you do not need to contact us first.
Unsubscribing also cancels your subscription. We do not keep charging for emails you have asked us to stop. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, so your alerts continue until then and you are not charged again. If it was a mistake, the preferences page linked in every email has an undo button until that date.
Refunds.If the service didn't work, wasn't what you expected, or you were charged in error, email rlancasterenterprises@gmail.com and we will refund you. We would rather refund you than have you fighting a form. Cancellation stops future charges; we do not automatically refund past periods, but ask us and we will look at it fairly.
We may suspend or end a subscription — with a pro-rata refund of the unused period — if we stop offering the service, or if the account is used in a way that breaches these terms.
